Anime Sci-Fi Club Takes an Unexpected Journey to Middle Earth!
Anime Sci-Fi Club and the Media Center sponsored a fun after school fieldtrip for 16 students to the see the movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 17, 2012. For some avid fans like Thomas Mallon and Nathaniel Topping, both seniors, this was actually their second trip to see the film! The blockbuster movie is based on J.R.R. Tolkien's classic novel The Hobbit, a prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy. In the books, various fictional creatures including dwarves, elves, and goblins fight for control of Middle Earth. Though published decades ago, the books are popular staples in the OLCHS Media Center. Anime Sci-Fi Club meets after school every other Thursday in Room 107. Fieldtrip chaperones were Jamie Atkus, special education teacher & club adviser, and media specialists Eileen Jones & Jennifer Sidlow.
