Richards High
School in Oak Lawn proudly announces that the students listed below graduated with the 10 highest grade point averages for the class of 2012.
Each has merited Honors with Distinction, the highest classification possible, for earning a GPA above 4.0 (possible due to weighted grades for Honors and Advanced Placement courses.) All 10 also qualified for
National Honor Society and received Illinois State Scholar honors this year. The top 10 graduates include:
Taylor Adelman – Taylor participated in volleyball, softball, peer tutoring, Spanish Club, Scholastic Bowl, sand senior leaders and qualified for Spanish honor society. She will begin studies in accounting next fall at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Andrea Azem – President of choir, Andrea also participated in speech team, Drama Club, peer mediation, show choir, vocal jazz, fall play, spring musical, Group Interpretation, Contest Play, and Laughing Aardvarks (improv theater), and qualified for Tri-M (music honors).
Tim Geraghty – President of NHS, captain of the cross country and track teams, and a band section leader, Tim also participated in Mathletes, Scholastic Bowl, jazz band,
concert band, marching band, Spanish Club and peer tutoring and qualified for Spanish honor society. This fall he will begin studies in biomedical engineering at Boston University.
Alex Gullickson – Alex participated in Mathletes, Scholastic Bowl, tennis, and senior leaders. This fall he will begin studies in the pharmaceutical science program at Ferris
State University.
Allison Lonigro – Captain of speech team, field commander for marching band and president of Tri-M (music honors), Allison also participated in speech team, Drama Club,
Group Interpretation, Contest Play, fall play, and concert band. She will begin studies in history at St. Olaf College this fall.
Cory Louis – Cory participated in Leo Club, Science Club, and Bible study. A horse trainer outside of school, she will
begin studies in the pre-veterinary program at Cedarville University with plans to become an equine veterinarian.
Jordan Pickering – Captain of show choir, Jordan also participated in Drama Club, softball, and spring musical and also qualified for Tri-M (music honors). Next fall Jordan will begin studies in biology at the University of California at San Diego.
Evan Sendra – Co-captain of Mathletes, Evan also participated in cross country, swimming, baseball,
water polo, and Scholastic Bowl. Starting next fall he will begin studies in biomolecular engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Mary Spedale – Secretary of NHS and captain of the volleyball team, Mary also participated in peer tutoring, Scholastic Bowl, and senior leaders and qualified for Spanish honor society. Next fall she will begin
studies in nursing at Purdue University.
Joe Tenerelli – Captain of Mathletes, Joe also participated in soccer, bowling, volleyball, speech team, Laughing Aardvarks (improv theater), Spanish Club, peer tutoring,
Scholastic Bowl, Drama Club, and senior leaders and qualified for Spanish honor society. Next fall he will begin studies in education for the hearing impaired and mathematics at Illinois State
University.
