More than 20 students from Richards High School recently qualified for induction into Spanish National Honor Society.

Criteria for earning selection to the organization cover many areas.  Academically, students must maintain a minimum 92 percent cumulative average in Spanish classes and a minimum 83 percent cumulative semester average in all classes.

Selection to Spanish NHS also requires service to others. 
During the academic year, all members must participate in at least one service activity associated with their language of study.  Service activities may include tutoring peers; tutoring a student enrolled in the English Language Learner program (for non-native English speaking students); assisting teachers in preparing for the International Film Festival, eight grade open house, the Spanish NHS induction ceremony, or other event. 

Spanish NHS also requires students to participate in language activities.  These include successfully completing a language course or an independent study project involving Spanish or participating in any fundraising for Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.

Students qualifying for Spanish NHS included Mahmoud Abdel, Jannah Alaiwi, Khaled Almusa, Kiersten Bergquist, Agata Bernat, Tatiana Dixon, Siobhan Fox, Aeja Hill, Natalia Hornik, Alexis Juarez, Angelika Kwak, Sara Magana, Angeles Ochoa-Raya, Caitlin O’Sullivan, Karla Quiroyga, Haia Rafati, Katelyn Sullivan, and Haley Weinert.
