SUNDAY, JULY 22

Dog Attacked on Walk

The owner of a Schnauzer-setter mix said his dog was attacked by a small white dog that ran out of the front door and attacked his dog on the 4800 block of West Lamb Drive around 7 p.m. Police said the dog had a puncture wound on his front leg. Police attempted to speak to the owner of the aggressor dog but the resident who answered the door did not speak English. The dog owner’s was identified but attempts to call her were unsuccessful. Police said the offending dog appeared to be a “small white retriever mix.” The dog did not have tags and the resident at the house was unable to produce vaccination records.  Police issued a compliance citation for animal running at large.

FRIDAY, JULY 20

Charity Jar Stolen

A man pretending to buy a pack of cigarettes stole the charity jar while the clerk’s back was turned at 7-Eleven, 10441 S. Cicero Ave. Police said a bald-headed, white male in his late twenties and with a medium build entered the store around 11:44 p.m. The clerk said the man grabbed the charity jar from the counter and ran out the store in an unknown direction. Police said the clerk did not know the which organization the jar was for, but estimated the contents around $50.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 18

Intoxicated Man Falls and Can’t Get Up

A man was charged with disorderly contact after a citizen called police to report that he was intoxicated and yelling at children at Lake Shore Park, 9600 S. East Shore Drive, reports said. Police met with the caller who said a man identified as David Meller, 52, of Oak Lawn, was allegedly stumbling through the park and occasionally falling. Police said that Meller was yelling at kids in the park to come help him after he fell. After he dropped some items he was carrying, the caller told police that Meller was clearly scaring and bothering kids in the park, reports said. Police found Meller at the corner of Robertson and Edison Avenue after he fell again. According to the report, Meller told police had been drinking all day in a tavern, was drunk and couldn’t walk anymore. Meller was issued a village citation for disorderly contact. Police gave Meller a ride home.
