Brother Rice High School proudly celebrated its 53rd commencement Thursday at Saint Xavier University's Shannon Center. The class of 222 students amassed $10 million in scholarships. Sixty-percent of the class were on the honor roll over a four-year period, and 92 percent were accepted to the first or second college of their choosing.

President James Antos gave a rousing commencement address encouraging the young men to "act manfully in Christ Jesus," the school's motto.
The ceremony was cut short by a premature hat-tossing. The newly minted graduates were escorted out past their class purchase of a large orange inflatable character holding a cap in one hand and diploma in the other.
