Buona Restaurants and Catering is considering opening a location in the Beverly community, but has no specific location lined up.
“Beverly would be a good fit,” said John Gill, marketing director for the Berwyn-based restaurant chain. “But we have no timeline and no specific location picked out.”
“Our business and our menu fits in well with the Beverly community,” he said. “And Beverly is one of our most requested places for a new location.”
If Buona decides to build in Beverly, it would be the chain’s first location inside Chicago.
The chain has 14 suburban restaurants and is building a 15th in Orland Park, which is expected to open later this year, Gill said.

Oak Lawn Church Offers Smart Food Choices
Wesleyan Community Church, 8844 S. Austin Ave. in Oak Lawn, has started a low-cost food service called Smart Choice Food.
“It’s like MarketDay on steroids,” said parishioner Melissa Kronenberger, who is one of the church volunteers helping with the program.
“Anyone can come in and use the program,” she said. “It’s a church ministry to help people save money on food.”
“There are different packages,” she said. “One is a pack of 10 convenience meals for $29, which is very popular with seniors.”
A list of food items available for ordering can be found online at Smart Choice Food.
The church operates the program at cost, she said. Participants can pay with a Visa or by check.
“They are going to be able to accept LINK cards in the near future,” she said.
“This started in the South,” she said. “And we’re the only church in the Oak Lawn area that participates.”
“You can place orders online or at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday,” Kronenberger said.
The last day to place orders for September is Monday, Sept. 17.
Orders will be picked up at the church lobby on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
For information, call the church at 708-599-3661.
