SPRING CARNIVAL 

Where/when: Worth Village Hall, 7112 W 111th St, Worth, May 13-15.

Why go: Enjoy a night or day out with the family at our annual SPRING CARNIVAL! For more information visit the Village of Worth website.

Pricing: Special wrist band deals on Saturday and Sunday.

 

ST. BALDRICK'S EVENT AT SOUTHEAST ELEMENTARY

Where/when: Southeast Elementary School, 9800 S Francisco Ave, Evergreen Park, May 13 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.

Why go: Join in the fight against childhood cancer.

Pricing: Those wishing to participate may sign up at www.stbaldricks.org.

 

‘A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM’

Where/when: Richards High School, in the Little Theater, 10601 Central Avenue in Oak Lawn, 7:30 p.m. May 13, 14 and 15.

Why go: The drama students will be performing “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.”

Pricing: Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for senior citizens and students.

 

GARDEN CLUB OF EVERGREEN PARK PLANT SALE

Where/when: 9829 S Ridgeway Ave, Evergreen Park, May 14, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Why go: The public may purchase a variety of donated plants which may include perennial flowers, herbs, and house plants. An Auction for “special” plants will take place at 10 am.

Pricing: Free admission.

OAK LAWN GARDEN CLUB PLANT SALE

Where/when: Wolfe Wildlife Refuge Sale, W 109th St & Laramie Ave, Oak Lawn. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. May 14.

Why go: Plant sale includes many perennials from our members mature gardens at reasonable prices, including some annuals, ornamental grasses, painted pots, herbs, vegetables and garden art.

Pricing: Free admission.

STONEY CREEK CLEAN UP

Where/when: Wolfe Wildlife Refuge, W 109th St & Laramie Ave, Oak Lawn. 9 a.m.-noon, May 14.

Why go: Scout troops, families and individuals are welcome to come out and volunteer to help restore one of our most valuable resources by repairing nature trails, removing invasive vegetation, picking up garbage, removing debris, recycling, and spruce up creek-edge trails. Open to all. For more info call 708-857-2200.

Pricing: Free.

 

BIG BIKES, BIG HEARTS MOTORCYCLE RUN

Where/when: Tilted Kilt, 6401 W 95th St, Chicago Ridge, registration starts at 8:30 a.m. May 15.

Why go: Hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts are encouraged to wear their Irish green apparel for Park Lawn’s 14th annual motorcycle run benefitting the charitable organizations programs for adults with developmental disabilities.

Pricing: $20 registration, $10 per rider.

 

BLESSING OF THE GARDENS

Where/when: Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 10400 S Kostner Ave, Oak Lawn, 10:30 a.m. May 15.

Why go: Join Mt. Zion for Sunday service when they head outdoors to bless the gardens. Open to all.

Pricing: Offering appreciated.

 

REMEMBERANCE SERVICE FOR FAMILIES WHO HAVE LOST BABIES

Where/when: Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers Sisters' Convent, 2801 W 93rd St, Evergreen Park, IL 60805, Sunday May 15, 1 p.m.-2 p.m.

Why go: Little Company of Mary Hospital will host a Remembrance Service in honor of babies who have left the earth too soon in the Cherished Angel Memory Garden at the hospital.

Pricing: free of charge

 

THE SWING DOGS

Where/when: Oak Lawn Library, 9427 Raymond Ave, Oak Lawn, 2-4 p.m. May 15.

Why go: Eight talented musicians perform a selection of instrumental and vocal renditions of much-loved standards and jazz favorites.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Oak Lawn Library.

Pricing: Can’t beat free.
