Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

'Dear Mr. Heilmann ...'

Oak Lawn-resident John Crivellone, speaking on behalf of a concerned group of citizens and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, pens an email to Mayor Dave Heilmann regarding his scheduling conflicts.

Dear Mr. Heilman:
A group of concerned citizens, along with local business people have asked me to be spokesman and organizer of the candidates' forum since the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce has removed themselves from this responsibility. However, the men from the [Johnson-Phelps] Veterans of Foreign Wars have volunteered to sponsor and let us use their meeting room as a venue. Moreover, the prestigious Union League Club has offered to be an impartial moderator.
It seems there is ongoing conflict with your scheduling. I know you said you have a fundraiser this Thursday. Therefore, in order to once again accommodate your schedule we will move the candidates forum to next Wednesday, March 27th, from 7 to 9 p.,. at Johnson-Phelps VFW Post 5220, 5214 S. 52nd Ave.
Most candidates that I have talked with, including members of your own slate, are anxious to address important issues that effect the well being of the Oak Lawn community. I know that you feel the same was as depicted by a recent letter you sent to Dr. Bury that was subsequently published in the Patch. Please, Please contact me as soon as possible as time is now running out with only three more weeks till election. You can contact me by either responding to this email or by calling my cell at 708-969-6484.

Respectfully.

John Crivellone

The question is... what is most important to him... if it is Oak Lawn he will be there. Thank You John for setting this up and all the work you have done. I would really like to hear both sides and I am grateful someone is trying to accomplish this. I do hope he cares enough to come, if not, that should be decision enough for most voters.

Sure Nikki. Voters will flock to the other candidate if they can't hear a rowdy debate. Get a grip

Yes Master Boris. I love how one comment can cause a little lash out, get some control of yourself friend and don't allow my comments to affect you so much. You don't even know me, but I appreciate the fact that you are giving so much power to my little words. Everyone is allowed to speak their mind including you. I believe that a candidate should care about their community and should be willing to them what they stand for. Sorry if you disagree.

Mayor Heilmann has been in office for eight years. He has an actual record to run on. Sandy Bury is running on the Phelan/Deetjen contrived "Sandy Good- Dave Bad" campaign. Good luck with that. I don't think a Phelan orchestrated debate will help your cause.

So, John, was this letter actually sent to the Mayor, or did you just give it to Lorraine to further her obvious pro-Bury sentiment?

Heilmann is practicing good political strategy. The only thing live debates are good for is making candidates look bad. Why give a unnecessay opening to the challenger?
Like all incumbents he has a record. Challengers have to tell voters what they will do differently. Just saying you'll be "better" doesn't cut it. Dr. Bury has had plenty of opportunities and forums to spell out exactlywhat heir positions are. A debate is nothing more than a stage play, and Bury would be walking into the lions den. I think
she should be thankful that Heilmann isn't cooperating.

This isn’t rocket science. Set a date and whichever candidate(s) can make it will show up. If one doesn’t show the other has an open mike. Having this Thursday was always going to be tight since there was only going to be a weeks notice to the voters. Believe it or not there are a bunch of people that don’t read the patch.

Why did it have to be this Thursday? It has been canceled once already, so what’s a few more days?

Just go ahead and set it for Saturday at 10:00am. Have the village record it to be played back in a loop until election day.

Wow was has happened to the emails Mr. Heilmann has sent back as to his availability .............are they just lost ??? Or is Bury too worried she will be buried in any debate as she has no experince in local government .......its very clear the patch is so bias ............I guess I'm tired of hearing what Heilmann does'nt do more important what will Bury do ........maybe bashing should be out and tell us how Bury will make things better in Oak Lawn .....LOL.....by the way the Village Board make 90% of the decesions and how many ties has Mr. Heilmann voted for or against since 2005 ...........Think about it ............

Why all the anger Dave fan?? If patch is so biased, why read it why blog on it?? Obviously you haven't read Dr.bury's literature, you know very well Dave is ducking the issues. I would too with his record over the last four years. I know none of it is Dave's fault he is pure as the driven snow right? He is right everyone else is wrong. Same old song and dance from Dave's peanut gallery.
