Double Dinger: Help the Spartans ‘Paint the Gym Purple’ Tonight for Cancer Awareness

It's going to be a purpley evening at Oak Lawn Community High School this Friday (Jan. 27).

Oak Lawn Community High School’s girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will take on archrival Reavis High School in a double dinger today (Friday, Jan. 27) at OLCHS.

It’s “ladies first” with the girls facing off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 7 p.m.

OLCHS will also host its annual “Paint the Gym Purple” event kicking off the school’s Relay for Life.

Fans are encouraged to wear purple to Friday’s double dinger to generate cancer awareness at the school and throughout the community. Those wearing purple will be admitted free as well as receive a complimentary bag of popcorn.

Oak Lawn Community High School has played host to a Relay for Life event for nine years and has raised more than $500,000 for cancer research.

This year’s OLCHS Relay for Life event is scheduled for Saturday, May 12.
