Is Your Community Costume Chic? Map Shows Who Spent the Big Bucks
Do you plan to splurge on yourself this Halloween?
Halloween costumes for both kids and adults are a big money-maker. Adults spent about $512 million on creepy or creative costumes last year, according to Crain's Chicago Business.
That's $100 million more than parents shelled out for their children's costumes, Crain's reports.

Wondering what your community spent on costumes for adults? Patch pulled what area towns spent from Crain's interactive map:
| Community | Spending in 2011 |
| Beverly-Mt. Greenwood* | $124,062 |
| Evergreen Park | $35,788 |
| Oak Lawn | $98,501 |
| Palos Heights | $30,581 |
| Palos Hills | $31,391 |
| Palos Park | $29,264 |
*Crain's broke down spending by zip code. This made for a not-so-perfect process in figuring out how each community spent, especially for neighborhoods in Chicago. Figures given above reflect Crain's map and our best approximation: Beverly-Mt. Greenwood (60643 & 60655), Evergreen Park (60805), Oak Lawn (60453), Palos Heights (60463), Palos Hills (60465) and Palos Park (60464)

very interesting, considering that most people in Oak Lawn just wander around with their kids while no one is at their house answering the door, while others like me answer the door for fear of retaliation from kids and their so-called parents!
