Terry Reichert, 51, passed away at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Oak Lawn Police said he was found with facial injuries and unable to speak by his girlfriend at his him near 109th Street and Komensky Avenue.

Police and family members said that Reichert had presumably been laying unconscious outside for several hours after being injured.

The man’s girlfriend reported that her boyfriend might have been “jumped” or “battered,” a police news release said.

Reichert had been out the evening before with his brother at a Hometown tavern. Security video shows the brothers leaving the tavern at approximately 1:10 a.m. Jan. 30.

The brother dropped Reichert off at his home but did not wait to see if he got inside the house.

The Oak Lawn Police have opened an investigation. Police are trying to determine what happened between the times Reichert left the bar and was found by his girlfriend.

Police were not immediately available for comment.

Wow...that's sad. Hope they find out what happened, no one looked out their window or heard anything when he was being beaten into a coma?

This whole case is indeed strange, nobody heard it, brother said he dropped him off at 11 when really it was 1 according to this article and Christ, as stupid as they normally are, throws out cloths he was wearing that may have contained possible evidence, somethings not right here, I smell foul play here

The Oak Lawn Police Department needs to look at this case as a Murder Investigation.

I agree. This man was murdered. He was not just punched, someone hurt him with the intention of killing him. He wasn't even robbed so there is either someone who didn't like him or there is a random murderer running around our neighborhood. This is such a sad story, this family will be in my prayers. I hope the police fight to find out what happened and catch the guy

With all due respect, I've deleted a few comments that I thought may be hurtful to those who knew and loved Terry Reichert. I reported what people told me. There were no typos because I was relatively awake when I wrote these unlike some. It's easy to lose track of time. I don't wear a watch and use my cell phone mostly to tell time when I'm out. Those seem to be the pervasive questions. Other than that, please be cool and please be sensitive to others' feelings. If anyone wishes to discuss this further, please email me at lorraine.swanson@patch.com.

And with all due respect to you, you deleted my comment and I know the family and was simply defending that the brother likely did exactly what you suggested--lost track of time. Should have deleted the comment from above questioning the brother, not mine. This is a tragic situation and the world lost a wonderful person in Terry Reichert. May he rest in peace.
