Residents watch Mt. Zion Lutheran Church's living nativity.

Children reenacted the story of the birth of Christ with a living nativity on Friday evening at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Oak Lawn. Over 200 people showed up for the two performances that featured Christmas carols and animals from the Children's Farm in Palos Park.

Two more performances are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. All children, including those with special needs, are welcome to participate as shepherds and angels in both Saturday performances. Afterward, join parishoiners for cookies and hot chocolate inside the church. Children wishing to be part of the Nativity must show up at 6 p.m.

Mt. Zion Lutheran Church is located at 10400 S. Kostner Ave. in Oak Lawn. There is no admission, but an offering is greatly appreciated.

The living nativity at Mt. Zion is one of many events taking place in Oak Lawn this weekend celebrating the holiday season.
