In voting for Southland Patch's MVP for Feb. 11-17, who gets the biggest roar from the crowd?
Evergreen Park's Megan Beckow helped the Mustangs begin the postseason on a high note. She scored 17 points, had five steals and four rebounds in a 67-23 girls basketball victory over Nobles Street-Muchin in the Class 3A DeLaSalle Regional. Beckow added 13 points and 15 rebounds in a 43-35 victory over DeLaSalle.
Oak Lawn's LaTondra Brooks scored 15 points as the Spartans finished a successful season with a 63-56 loss to Lincoln-Way North in IHSA regional action.
Lincoln-Way East wrestling coach Tyrone Byrd (left) looks on as the Griffins' Kyle Langenderfer signed a national letter of intent with Illinois. Langenderfer defeated Glenbard North's Brian Murphy 6-5 to win the 152-pound championship in the Class 3A state tournament in Champaign. Langenderfer finished with a record of 43-0.
Stagg's Revi McMahon scored 11 points in the Chargers' 43-32 girls basketball setback to Andrew in IHSA regional action.
Sandburg's Ricky Robertson eeked out a narrow victory in a battle of unbeatens and won the 195-pound championship in the Class 3A state wrestling tournament. Robertson defeated Plainfield Central's Jordan Ellingwood 2-1 in an overtime ultimate tie-breaker. Two other Sandburg individuals won state titles—C.J. Brucki (160) and Colin Holler (170).

Let's see nope a medal is definatly much bigger than a kid who just stands out.. Danny Swan stands out to for a huge upset by beating the unrated NATIONAL WRESTLING CHAMPION. Plus he received a first place medal for doing this. He is a wonderful teenager who worked his butt off through the season and then gave all the wrestling fans the best upset of the year by beating his opponent... Go Danny Swan!!!

Wrestling needs as much support as it can get. And a state champion, go Danny swan. Gotta vote for a state winner, especial one that was not projected to win.

No question about it. Danny Swan deserves it. After being one of his practice partners throughout the season, I don't think I have ever worked with such a hard worker. This kid had so much heart.
