UPDATE: Oak Lawn's Rachel Kestian is Patch MVP.

Oak Lawn's Rachel Kestian was distributing the wealth in the Spartans' straight-sets victory over Hillcrest. She outpolled 11 others in fan balloting for Patch MVP, Aug. 26-Sept. 1. Kestian is now eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month honors.

In voting for Patch's Southland MVP for Aug. 26-Sept. 1, who gets the biggest roar from the crowd?
Marist's Peter Andreotti rushed for 199 yards on 18 carries and scored two touchowns in a 49-35 victory over Brother Rice. He also caught two passes for 23 yards as Marist knocked off Brother Rice for the first time since 2001.
Marian Catholic's Amber Clay had 11 digs and six blocks in the Spartans' 25-14, 17-25, 25-21 victory over Thornton Fractional South.
Stagg's Taylor Lambertsen score a nine-hole score of 37 to take medalist honors in the Chargers" 200-218 girls golf victory over Homewood-Flossmoor.
Lincoln-Way West's Nick Dangles rushed for 69 yards on 21 carries in a 27-9 victory over district rival Lincoln-Way Central. He also scored the first touchdown for the Warriors as the toppled the Knights for the first time in varsity football action.
Oak Lawn's Rachel Kestian dished out 11 assists in the Spartans' 25-9, 25-13 girls volleyball victory over Hillcrest.

That's a pretty bold statement ... could be considered sexist and is definitely uneducated. Learn about each of the kids, first. Cheer them all on, but don't belittle them.
