In voting for Patch's MVP for Oct. 8-14, who gets the biggest roar from the crowd?
Lincoln-Way West's Alexis Biedrzycki made hay during the first round of play at the Class AA girls state golf tournament. She shot 75 and tied for fourth place. The second round was canceled because of inclement weather at Hickory Point Golf Club in Decatur.
Shepard's Londell Lee enjoyed a record-setting day in the Astros' 62-24 victory over Evergreen Park. Lee set Shepard records for receiving yardage (266) and all-purpse yardage (520) as Shepard pushed its record to 5-3 and all but clinched a playoff berth.
Sandburg senior Tom Thanasouras shot 74 in the first round of the Class 3A boys state golf tournament at The Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington. He tied for fifth place. The second round was canceled because of inclement weather.
Bree Veazey shot 79 and tied for 16th in the Class AA girls state golf tournament at Hickory Point Golf Club in Decatur. The second round of play was canceled because of inclement weather.

Nic put out an amazing effort on a heartbreaking night. There's no doubt there's more success in store this season for him.

All: A lot of great athletes/candidates here. But what Nic did in the face of great loss truly is amazing. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Veazey deserves it hands down. She has carried Marian's Girls Golf team on her back.

Nic Weishar deserves it not only for his stellar athletic performance, but for his character off the field in relation to perseverance during the most difficult time in his life. His brother Andrew must be proud!
