Patch Releases Part 3A of the Legal Investigation Into Former Village Attorney

Read part 3A of the legal report into the former village attorney paid for by the taxpayers of Oak Lawn.

The Oak Lawn Village Board released a second investigative report into the former village attorney now known as Tressler LLP after questions arose about the firm's billings and handling of litigation.

Godfrey and Kahn was hired by the village in May 2011 to conduct a second investigation into the former village attorney.

The village board voted unanimously last April to accept a $500,000 from the firm. The settlement also carried an agreement to keep the final report confidential.

Part 3A of the Godfrey and Kahn report includes a letter from the firm to Village Manager Larry Deetjen outlining its terms to the village and $375-per-hour fee and an analysis of the "Odelson Report," the first legal audit of Tressler LLP during its employ by the village between October 2005 and September 2009.

The report was obtained by a Freedom of Information Act request filed with the Village.

OMG. The best part of this report is the end where Tommy rambles on in a memo to Odelson and Sterk about all the problems with Tressler. Of course, few of these ramblings turned out to be in the final report by his frat buddy.

I thought the report was talking about Dave's buddies?? Is that the best answer you can give?? There were more than a few" ramblings " in the report 666 and you know it. Smoke and mirrors again and again

Guys, both Messrs Phelan and Heilmann come off pretty badly in these documents. Mr Streit comes off waffly at best, although more like politically maneuverable considering his recent support of Mr Heilmann.

Just asking here - don't say I'm on one side or the other - but much of pages 50 through 58 seem to be lifted straight from Dr Bury's campign mailing of about 10 days ago. Were her several pages of accusational proof obtained from this report? If not, how could they be reproduced exactly when this was released after the mailing?

The source for my mailing was the Odelson Report which was posted on Patch in April. I will be producing a new document which incorporate issues raised in the Godfrey & Kahn report. I would have liked to include data from the minutes of the executive sessions related to this as well, but my FOIA was denied. I will fight that denial and the taxpayers will know the truth.

QC what is your problem?? Is every thing that happens to Dave, Phelan or Quinlan's fault?? The clerk is running as an Independent . Unlike The Mayor, The clerk doesn't interfere with investigations, hires friends as attorney's,thinks she is the manager. You must be scared of something.

I find the term " independent " comical when we talk about Oak Lawn politics. I understand why we use it though. We got into the " Party " politics and gave pepole the impression it was " good " for the taxpayers to have a majority ruled board. Vote for me and all my buddies and we'll make it right. Really, how did that work out ? Each trustee should be his/her own person representing their constituents and voting for what is right, not what the mayor expects or demands. It looks like we will get there next year. Too bad we lost so many taxpayer dollars finding out the hard way.

Mayoral candidate Sandra Bury, I must congradulate you on a brilliant campaign move. The release of this report is basically a $500,00.00 campaign contribution to you, paid for by the Oak Lawn taxpayers. Oh yea, I know...people have the right to know, people need to know...transparency .....bla bla bla, but at the end of the day nothing changes for the taxpayer while you on the other hand have a beautiful platform to run on paid for by the Oak Lawn taxpayers. I just can't believe no one else caught on to this. But once again Mayoral candidate Sandra Bury nicely played my friend nicely played
