The Chicago firefighter died Nov. 11 at the Beverly Firehouse after responding to a small fire.
In a procession that stretched for blocks, the body of fallen Chicago Firefighter Walter Patmon Jr. was escorted to its final resting place.
Patmon, 61, died on Nov. 11 after suffering what was believed to be a heart attack at the Beverly fire house. He had recently returned from a call.
The 18-year veteran of the department is survived by his wife and three daughters.
The Wednesday funeral was held at Apostolic Church of God, 6320 S. Dorchester, and Patmon was buried at Restvale Cemetery in Alsip. The procession made its way down 119th Street Wednesday afternoon.
A fund has been established for his family. Donations can be made at any BMO Harris Bank location. Checks can be made payable to the Walter Patmon Memorial Fund. The account number for the fund is 4811970829.
