Photos: Residents Protest Disruptive Mt. Hope Funeral Processions
Almost 200 residents of Morgan Park, Mt. Greenwood and surrounding communities participated in a silent protest against Mt. Hope Cemetery.
They say they have had enough.
Residents who live in the areas around Mt. Home Cemetery, 11500 South Fairfield Ave., say they have seen a steady increase in the number of disruptive funeral processions making their way into and out of the cemetery.
Many of the protesters, who staged a silent demonstration 300 feet from the cemetery entrance, say that the processions often involve gang affiliated individuals and cause serious problems for the neighborhood.
