Ridiculous

I have both email and text features sent to my mobile device, and they were both rolling through @ 330pm. My daughter attends Liberty JH, so obviously I was very concerned. However, I think the city's response time was valid; why cause widespread panic by jumping the gun with "shots fired - run and hide your kids and family!" Police had to evaluate and secure the area first, and I am sure within minutes they were there to do so. That right there would make me feel at ease knowing the cops are now a presence. So, they evaluated the situation and then sent the notice. When I found out I had to pick up my daughter from LJH because of the lockdown, the police presence was overwhelming, so I knew they had control of the situation.
Point #1: Nobody dropped the ball here. BPD conducted this with a sense of urgency without causing a panic. I was never overly worried about my daughter's safety while staying informed by BPD.
Point #2: If you want to get a feel of living like you are in Pilsen or the West Side of Chicago, then encourage the town to install Police Cameras on every corner around Burbank. Then, this beautiful community will completely go to hell. As Burbank residents, we must be vigilant when witnessing and reporting the nonsense that happens around here. Not all groups of kids or youths are gangbangers or troublemakers; HOWEVER when something seems out of place or you feel the tension in the air... CALL POLICE! It just may prevent something far worse from happening!

Ahhh! The sweet sounds of gunfire in a usually guiet neighborhood brought to us by the usual dregs of humanity! Don'these cretins of society have anything better to do?

Another shooting in Burbank and nothing will be done about it. Just more gunfire.

Getting sick of these Punks walking around the neighborhoods looking for trouble.. Maybe it's time to rewrite some of our laws! Instead of the police worrying about being reprimanded for questioning these characters they should be allowed to protect US!! These kids know the laws protect the criminals. Take back our streets. We want to sit outside and go for walks with our families safely.. Send these gang bangers back to where they were bred, the city!!!

Don't worry, the police know where they live. They'll just go knock on the door and get them.

We need new legislation/laws regarding stop and search and being Politically correct.
Enough has been done to our country by thugs that have No Regard for human life, and feel Entitled to Everything that anyone has worked hard for!!!

I appreciate the information. FYI - The school's main entrance is just half a block from the apparent location of the crime. When I left school at about 3:30 PM, the cops were also at a house in the 8000 block of Mason, directly across from the school.

Gang bangers are here to stay in Burbank. It's time for all the good hard working people to move. Like they did in Ashburn, Scottdale, West Lawn, Chicago Lawn, Clearing, Marquette Park.

I lived in Burbank and had problems withy he same group of kids causing problems all the time. I called the police constantly and they never did a thing. I was told that maybe I should move by the police officer that came to one call. I took his advice and I no longer live there. Thank god!
