Weird choices -- why is Marcus Chicago Heights not on the list?

Hi, Chris.

This is the second part of our Readers' Choice content. The first asked readers to nominate their favorites in certain categories. The choices available reflect those nominations.

Because the question is Where is the best place to catch a move, not where is the best place to get mugged?

Maryann - Have they recently remodeled Chicago Ridge Theaters? I stopped going there about 5 year ago because it was always dirty, including the bathrooms, no matter what day of the week or time I went there. The seats had stains and tears in them too, and they did nothing to deter people from lopud talking or using their cell phones during the movies. I have a lot of friends in that area, but we all go to Orland now. So I'd be anxious to know if they did a recent major overhaul of the place or switched management, and we might consider going there again.

And to answer your question, ownership of the entire Chicago Ridge Mall changed this past month.

I also had stopped going to Chicago Ridge Theaters for the above mentioned reasons. But, this past week we saw Savages at Crestwood and paid a lot of money and our movie going experience was ruined by talking, cell phones, and garbage stuffed in the cup holders. The following day we went to Chicago Ridge and everything was great. Their seats seem like big recliners and are very spacious. I was so happy that I gave them another chance.

Movies 10 in Joliet features movies that have already run their course in the major theaters at a cost of only $2. They are very nice theaters, clean and well kept. The popcorn is the best of all the theaters in the area, and the prices are slightly cheaper than the other theaters as well. Its a cheaper alternative when you are on a budget and not worried about being in a sometimes empty theater. Parking is good, and the lot is well lit. Matinee movies are only $1....

Marcus in Orland because it's also close to just about anything else you could take a date to before or after.

Theaters are full of gross people. Get an Optima projector and a blu-ray. Done.

Dear Lauren Traut: Then y'all should do some of your own nominating. This is the lamest list of "southland" venues I've seen yet. Two of the three (three?? you could find only three theaters??) entries are southwest - even far southwest - not south.

I'm saying crestwood blows. Getting worse and worse because of the clientele. When I wanna take my family I drive to Marcus in Orland or the Quarry on 62nd and Lagrange. Haven't been to the new Chi Ridge but the mall is a mix of Tijuana and Afghanistan. So I'm sure they'll enjoy it.

I like the convenience of the Marcus in Orland, but the parking lot is always so hectic and crowded, even with the parking garage, that I tend to avoid it. AMC New Lenox is a bit of a hike and out of the way, but it is clean and the employees are friendly and helpful.

Haven't been to Chicago Ridge Theater in years since it turned in to a dump and Marcus Theater in Orland is not that great either. We like go to The Quarry Theater in Hodgkins very nice and clean. But our favorite that we usually go to is Hollywood Boulevard in Woodridge. It's a very nice theater way different than any other around.
