Student Seriously Injured in Tuesday's Motorcycle Wreck

Police said the man ditched his motorcycle when a truck pulled onto Southwest Highway.

An exchange student who lives with a host family in Champaign was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on Southwest Highway Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The man was southbound on Southwest Highway when a truck pulled out from a nearby business, said Palos Hills Deputy Chief James Boie. The motorcycle rider ditched his bike, which became trapped under the truck. He was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The extent of the man’s injuries hasn't been disclosed. Boie said he was wearing a helmet but did suffer head trauma.

The motorcyclist’s identity has not yet been released, police said. While his host family has been contacted, his family back home in South Korea has yet to be informed.

No one else was injured in the crash and no tickets have yet been issued, police said.

This is exactly why people should NOT have made so many judgmental and cruel comments. Praying for this man and his family.

I know the family he is living with and they are devastated. So the assumptions and accusations should be kept to yourself. Praying for the best for him and his families.

Given the comments from the previous article who said he was weaving in and between traffic...you see this all the time. It was about time something like this happened - maybe it'll be a lesson to the other riders? One can only hope.

For once, my kid is not taking a pic w her phone! That scene was horrible! I wish she would have thought to take a pic, but she was freaked out by the accident scene.
