MT. ZION ANNUAL RUMMAGE AND BAKE SALE
Where/when: Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10400 S Kostner Ave., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 20; 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 21.
Why go: Treasures and delectable treats galore. Saturday is $3 bag day. Open to all.
NICOR 15TH ANNUAL VOLUNTEER DAY
Where/when: Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens, 7402 Lake Katherine Dr, Palos Heights, 8 a.m. Saturday, May 21.
Why go: Volunteers of all ages are invited to spiff up Lake Katherine and plant native vegetation.
Pricing: Can’t beat free.
ARMED FORCES DAY AT CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
Where/when: Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn, 5100 Museum Dr, Oak Lawn, Saturday, May 21.
Why go: Free admission for military members and their immediate family. Must present proper identification or be in uniform.
Where/when: 96 River Oaks Ctr, Calumet City, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22.
Why go: Featuers hundreds of exhibits and top professional representatives from some the best known local and national home improvement and landscaping companies. Children’s activities, live entertainment, classes and demonstrations, drawings, free samples and deep discounts. Free parking available.
