‘Unbreakins’: Thieves Rob Unlocked Cars
Oak Lawn car burglaries, Jan. 12 through Jan. 14.
MONDAY JANUARY 14
GPS Unit Taken
Thieves hit an unlocked 2008 Toyota van parked in the 9400 block of South Kolmar Ave. sometime before 6:08 p.m. Police said a GPS unit was stolen.
SUNDAY JANUARY 13
Ripped-Off Raybans
Someone entered a 1992 Jeep Comanche in the 10000 block of South Major Avenue and swiped a pair of Rayban sunglasses sometime before 2:15 p.m.
SATURDAY JANUARY 12
Car Routinely Left Unlocked
A man who typically leaves his car unlocked noticed that someone entered his car and removed $2 worth of change sometime before 11:50 a.m. The owner said his glovebox was also tossed. The car was parking in the 5600 block of 98th Place. Police said the two other car burglaries occurred on the same block.
Pink Box Cutter Pinched
A woman claims to have locked her car on before going into her home. At 6 a.m. the next day, the car door was slightly ajar. Several items had been moved and tossed about the car that parked on the 10300 block of South Circle Ave. The owner said she is missing a black watch and pink boxcutter.

DUH!! If you are silly enough to leave your car unlocked then you deserve to have it broken into!

Absolutely.Leaving your car unlocked Is advertizing theft. Times are very hard.Nothing will get better. Even a locked car can get broken Into If you leave anything of value out In view. Think of the risk some take just to get some change.

I disagree. My car was burglarized in my own backyard a year or so ago as I left it unlocked. I shouldn't have to lock my car in my own yard. It's sad really.

And locks being cut off lockers at the new planet fitness and personal belongings getting yesterday and Saturday night
