The highlight of the Oak Lawn Chamber's golf outing last Wednesday was the Oak Lawn Rotary Club's second annual golf ball drop from a helicopter.
Balls were numbered and sold for a sawbuck. Whichever ball landed closest to the hole at Stony Creek Golf Course was the winner. The ball dropper was Adam Woodworth, president of the Oak Lawn Rotary Club and executive director of the Children's Museum. This year, there were two holes in one.
Proceeds from ball sales are going toward various Rotary community service projects, the main project being a new handicapped accessible playground for the Oak Lawn Park District.
This story has been updated with new information about the Oak Lawn Rotary's project for the park district. Patch originally reported that proceeds from the ball drop were going to Rotary's Interact Teen Club.
