You Decide: Who Fries Up the Best Onion Rings in Oak Lawn
Help us decide who serves up the best onion rings or bloomin' onion in the Oak Lawn area.
It’s time for another Chowdown Showdown, our popular weekly feature that will not only give you great ideas on where to eat, but gives you the chance to rave about your favorite places in town.
The Chowdown Showdown has two components. The first is when we call on you, our brutally honest readers, and gather votes for the best representative from Oak Lawn.
After we declare a Palos winner, we have a taste test where Palos, Evergreen Park and Oak Lawn restaurants are pitted against each other and each town's editor weighs in on who makes a particular dish best.
It's all in good fun.
Before the competition starts, we need your ideas on who our Oak Lawn representative should be.

This week's showdown will celebrate that glorious fried concoction - fried onions. We want to know who makes the best onion rings or blooming onion in town. If it is breaded, fried and has an onion in between it's fair game. Let us know if you have a special dipping sauce that we should try with it too.
How to Vote
There are three ways to vote for your favorite.
- Leave a comment on this article and tell us your pick and why you think they are the best.
- Find your pick in our Oak Lawn Patch Directory and leave a review and tell the world just how good their onion rings are.
- Go to the Oak Lawn Patch Facebook page and tell us your pick.
Get your votes in by Monday at midnight. We will announce the winner and share the results of our taste test on Wednesday.
That's Not All . . .
The Oak Lawn Patch Directory allows you to leave reviews of your all your favorite places in town. From auto shops to eye doctors, hot dog stands to churches, find them in the directory and tell everyone why they are great.

Yeah so honostly, I normally dislike onions and especially dislike onion rings. My wife loves them. The only ones I really like are the ones from Grassano's. They are so toasty and yummy.

I always get the combo appetizer platter at huck Finns. It's totally loaded with onion rings, moz sticks, chicken tenders and mushrooms for like 10 bucks. Onion rings are golden brown, crispy and sweet.

White Castle! Really, they should only sell the three or four kinds of sliders, fries, onion rings and orange pop, and they'd be the perfect "restaurant".

I know they are in Hometown but hands down Pizza Plus has the best onion rings around.

I know they aren't in Oak Lawn anymore since the location at 96th and Cicero closed, but Popeye's has the best onion rings anywhere!
