Youth Softball: Oak Lawn Diamonds Finish With a Gem in St. Louis

Diamonds 12-under team places fourth in ASA 'B' Northern Nationals.

When the players and coaches pause to reflect, they will have something to hang their hat on, that’s for sure.

The Oak Lawn Diamonds 12-under softball team placed fourth in the ASA ‘B’ Northern Nationals in St. Louis and was the highest-finishing team from Illinois playing at the nationals.

The fourth-place finish follows on the heels of the Diamonds’ second-place effort at ASA’s Chicago ‘B’ tournament in July. Sara Kiziak and Emily Reilly anchored the Diamonds’ pitching staff. Vanessa Villasenor, Lauryn McManus, Shanon Masino and Natalia Rafacz led the offense.

But everyone on the roster contributed to the Diamonds’ success, including Alyssa Sorrentino, Mandy Summers, Maddy Dollah, Colleen Murray, Sindey Izzo, Clare Kalinsky and Anjelica Rafacz.

Chris Kiziak manages the Diamonds. Coaches are Dan Masino, Iggy Villasenor and Scott McManus. The coaches will conduct tryouts for next season on Aug. 11, Aug. 13-14, and Aug. 20-21. For information, email larryfetch@comcast.net or ckiziak@comcast.net.
