Introducing The city of Burbank Blog. This blog has been created to see what's happening in our neighborhood of Burbank, Illinois. We would love to know anything and everything that's happening, and also report news events. This Blog was first thought of due to the recent happenings of gang activities and the issues surrounding them. We will be reporting in our next blog a summary of what happened at the Townhall Meeting at Reavis High School on September 25, 2012. But in the meantime, here we are. We are excited for this blog and it will be seen through Oak Lawn Patch our wonderful border neighborhood. This blog is extended to all of our citizens who might want to report anything, have any tips, anything fun and exciting or any concerns. Please email us at burbankblog@gmail.com if you are interested in showing us anything, any opinions, any suggestions. Thank you so much. #1 - 2012

You're not the first person to ask me that, Kim. I forward all such requests on to my boss. I do hope you like the City of Burbank blog that is being maintained by Burbank residents and encourage you to email at the address above.

Hopefully new burbank ordinance will be helpful. I think our community needs to step together w/authorities, etc. & run these people outta town! thank you:-)

It is true this ordinance is a start;however $500.00 to $1000.00 per incident is a paltry amount for a fine in this day and age, and for this type of highly threatening activity. A resident suggested at the September council meeting during the public forum that once a resident (s) or residence has been established as part of a gang activity, all their assets will be seized and they all be required to leave Burbank, period. It is the fact that they reside here, walk the street and/or engage in this type of activity that prompts outsiders to enter the City seeking retaliation by way of drive-bys and other criminal activities. One strike and you're out of Burbank! If legal constraints prevent a law or ordinance of this severity from happening, then get a law enacted that will make it work. God knows there is enough political horsepower in and around this town to get it done. Local politicians always seem to let us know they're around and "Working for You" when they need a vote...show that you care like you SAY you care. This situation needs to be addressed with, YES, Drastic, hard-hitting action, not a tepid $500.00 fine. What seems to be luke-warm responses by the City to life-threatening situations (seems to always be somebody else's life) will only allow this problem to worsen. Get some Gonads and attack this problem early, often, and with bunker-busting ordinances that will drive these people out.
