Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School recently celebrated the installation and dedication of the new Maureen Breen Putnam Memorial Garden.
Maureen Breen Putnam ‘65 was an amazing woman, whose many passions flourished in high school. She passed away in June 2010 after a long battle with breast cancer. As a tribute to her full life and wide range of talents, family and friends established a memorial garden at Mother McAuley by family and friends. Design of the garden and initial planting was completed in October, and the dedication was held on November 2, 2012. The McAuley A Cappella sang and Maureen’s friends and loved ones shared memories of their friend. More than 50 guests attended the outdoor service and remained for a reception in the student lounge.
Maureen's creative spirit and tenacious belief in the power of positive thinking were the hallmark of her life; she wrote, "Laughter really is the best medicine. Practicing happiness is the only way to live in harmony with your body and support its healing energies."
