During this busy Holiday season, I thought I would comment about something that has nothing to do with the Holidays... My anger at why certain Rock Groups are always passed over for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The elitist Left Wing editors at Rolling Stone including Jan Wenner, basically decide who gets in or who doesn't. Not artsy enough,Not cool enough, not pc,never had a good Rolling Stone review??.. You probably won't get in or even nominated. Here are a few Bands that have had at least an album out for 25 years ( induction requirement ) and still have not made the H.O.F. Rush,Heart,Deep Purple,Journey,Iron Maiden,Judas Priest,Ted Nugent,Free, Bad Co.,Kiss, Thin Lizzy,Mountain,UFO,Scorpions,Motorhead,New York Dolls,B.O.C. and Probably the biggest snub being the band CHICAGO!!! In fact Chicago has not even been Nominated and they have been eligible for over 21 years. Chicago has sold the 2nd most records for an American band all time next to the Beach Boys. They certainly were cutting edge back in the days from 68-74 Before they syrupy ballads took over. They were a Jazz Rock fusion Band with the most underrated brilliant guitarist Terry Kath leading the way before his tragic death in 1978. By the way Rolling Stone hated Chicago and never liked any of their albums. All the bands I mentioned pretty much cover the litany of reasons why they are not in the H.O.F Too geeky, Too heavy,Not PC etc. I'm not saying all those bands listed should get in, but compared to Laura Nyro,Leonard Cohen,Madonna,Michael Jackson,The Beastie Boys,Neil Diamond and Jimmy Clift at least they play Rock and Roll. This argument is like who belongs in The Baseball H.O.F., but at least you know who does the voting. The Rock Hall is done by a bunch of stuffed shirt invisible elitists, who have their own agenda. As Eddie Trunk of VH-1 Classic says it's really the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame... I know I probably missed some bands maybe you have some others to post...

I have to say that I enjoy the Rock Hall and I believe that the majority of the inducted bands are worthy. However, I agree that some of the choices are dubious, at best. And, I've also been of the mind, for YEARS, that Chicago deserves to be inducted (and I'm not even a huge fan of the band). I'll share this piece with some friends who are rock and roll afficianados...I'm fairly certain they'd be in complete agreement with you!

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was founded on the precepts of a single arrogant individual who, because he believed he "discovered" Bruce Springsteen, felt is was his duty to foist his idea of Rock Greatness on the rest of us. It's become, as with other Halls, a political mess. The awardees, while some are deserving, get their recognition mostly through record sales. And to bestow said Rock Greatness on rap and C&W artists is more than a stretch, it's a joke. I love Jimmie Rodgers as much as the next guy, but he had zero influence on rock.

Besides, is it in the spirit of rock n roll to dress up in a tux, sit down to a rubber chicken and slap the backs of others you wouldn't give the time of day to in other circumstances? I'm thinking not.....
