DESCRIPTION:The basic principle of The Flat Stanley Project is to connect
  your child\, with other children from the museum participating in the P
 roject by sending the museum "flat" visitors\, created by the children\,
  through the mail or simply bringing into the museum on Thursdays to pos
 t.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;Kids then talk about\, track\, and write about their fl
 at character's journey and adventures. Although similar to a pen-pal act
 ivity\, Flat Stanley is actually much more enriching-children don't have
  to wonder where to begin or what to write about. The children will alre
 ady have a mutual friend\, Flat Stanley. Writing and learning becomes ea
 sier\, flows naturally\, and tends to be more creative. This is what tea
 chers call an "authentic" literacy project\, in that kids are inspired t
 o write of their own passion and excitement about the project\, and give
 n the freedom to write about many things through the rubric of the Flat 
 Stanley character\nJenise will be here on Thursdays at 10am for a Stanle
 y experience. She will hand out Flat Stanley&rsquo\;s to visitors\, moun
 t any incoming Stanley&rsquo\;s on the&rdquo\; Museum Map&rdquo\;\, read
  stories about Stanley\, and lead the group in discussions. Children sha
 re with everyone\, where his or her Stanley has been and what he has bee
 n doing.\nThis is a free program with museum admission.&nbsp\;
