Oak Lawn Community High School is a comprehensive and competitive public high school that prepares students for college and the work force.

OLCHS is the sole school in District 229 and serves portions of Bridgeview, Chicago Ridge, Hometown and Oak Lawn. Attendance boundaries are 87th Street on the north, 99th Street on the south, S.Pulaski Road/Crawford Avenue on the east and Harlem Avenue on the west—a rectangle 4 miles wide east and west, 1-1/2 miles long north and south.

The academic curriculum is deep and extensive, including college prep and advanced placement courses for the college bound and a wide selection of workforce courses in the industrial arts, technology, computer repair, auto repair and graphic and interior design.

The school motto is "Pride in Achievement" and school teams are the Spartans.

District 229 envisions a school "that provides each student with challenging opportunities in a culture where creativity, respect and an authentic enthusiasm for learning exist, one where all strive to be responsible, motivated citizens of strong character, one that embraces a strong partnership with our diverse communities and one that promotes a passionate commitment to Spartan Pride."

In addition to academics, OLCHS offers dozens of extracurricular activities that nurture and develop students' individual talents and also offers competitive boys' and girls' sports.

Parents are also involved in their children's education through the parents' athletic boosters and the Parent Teacher Student Association.
