More About St. Gerald Catholic School
St. Gerald Catholic School is a pre-K-8 school affiliated with St. Gerald Catholic Parish. It is Oak Lawn's oldest Catholic elementary school. The school offers a challenging faith-based curriculum in a caring family atmosphere. It also offers extended before and after-school care for children. Known for its academic excellence, many St. Gerald grads go on to become valedictorians at their respective high schools.
The school is fully equipped with a library, science and computer labs, and an ELS (essential learning system) lab that uses a multisensory computer program to teach struggling students how to better process information and school work.
In addition to its curriculum, St. Gerald's offers a wide range of sports and other extracurricular activities, including a peer support group for students who have suffered a loss. St. Gerald's also hosts an annual dinner dance, walk-a-thon and summer carnival.
Parents and guardians are actively involved in the school, and many volunteer as classroom aides and organizers of annual school benefits. The school supports several parent organizations.
Limited financial aid is available, and non-Catholic students are welcome to enroll; however, preference is given to children of Catholic faith.
