Oak Lawn area residents Morgan Johnson, Matt Judd, Michael Lynch, Molly Murphy, and Cylia Srmek are featured in the all-star production of “No Strings Attached” by StagePlay: Musical Theater for Kids! on Saturday, August 25.
These students were in StagePlay’s spring production of “No Strings Attached” at the Oak Lawn Park District, but not necessarily in the same roles they will play in the all-star show.
Thanks to their familiarity with the script, only eight rehearsals were needed to mount the production. Unlike the Disney version of “Pinocchio,” this musical is more closely based on the original story written by Carlo Collodi, according to the production’s director, Monica Minogue.
The book is by Patrick Rainville Dorn, and music and lyrics by Bill Francouer. StagePlay’s All-Star performance of “No Strings Attached” will be at 7 pm on Saturday, August 25.
It will be held at Oak View Community Center Theater, 4625 West 110th Street, Oak Lawn. Admission is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased by contacting Monica Minogue at monica@stageplaykids.com or 815.954.3228.
StagePlay: Musical Theater for Kids! began in 2002 under the direction of Monica Minogue and has expanded to 8 park districts, offering classes for children ages 5-15. More About Oak Lawn Park District Oak View Center
The Oak View Community Center is located on a tree-filled campus on the east side of Oak Lawn. Its field house contains many museum-quality nature displays of the area's early history, as well exhibits of sea creatures, animals, shells, rocks and minerals.
The center offers a diverse selection of programming, including art classes, fitness, recreation programs and pre-school classes.
The Oak Lawn Community Theater is also stationed at Oak View, staging four critically-acclaimed family musicals per year in a newly renovated gymnasium complete with stadium seating.
Rooms in the community center are available for rental for private parties. The center also has chairs and tables available for rentals. Room rentals range in price from $25-$59 per hour and can accommodate private parties of up to 200 people.
The outdoor park grounds include a baseball field, picnic grounds, playground and a sand volleyball court.
Residents can also register for park district programs at Oak View.
