Twilight Vigil Planned for 9/11

Local memorial service will reflect on events twelve years ago Wednesday.

A twilight memorial service honoring those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 will be held this evening (Wednesday) at 7 p.m., at the 9/11 First Responders Memorial outside of the Oak Lawn/Patriot Metra Station.

The vigil will include a Patriot Day presentation of the colors, remarks and reflection by local clergy, veterans’ organizations and elected officials.

The First Responders’ monument incorporates steel from the fallen World Trade Center and was spearheaded by the Oak Lawn Rotary Club. The base of the installation was recently completed.
