"Happy Birthday, Megan!" Bowling Fundraiser

While a lot of people were gearing up for their yearly Super Bowl parties, friends of the Hurckes family braved the snow and came out to Arena Lanes for their fifth-annual bowling fundraiser and birthday bash to raise money for scholarships in the name of the late Megan Hurckes.

Megan, the daughter of former Oak Lawn trustee Jerry Hurckes, was only 10 years-old when she was involved in a fatal ATV accident while on vacation in September of 2009. She would’ve been 15 on February 5th.

Over four years later, the Hurckes family continues keeping her memory alive with the help and generosity of their friends and the community by donating money to help local students.

The Megan Hurckes Scholarship Foundation has given away over $120,000 worth of scholarships to people who otherwise couldn’t afford a full education. In addition, the money the family raises helps local organizations like the Oak Lawn Children’s Museum and Westside baseball.

Those who couldn’t attend the event can still donate; checks can be made payable to the Megan Hurckes Scholarship Foundation, c/o 7036 W. 96th St., Oak Lawn, IL, 60453.
