SOUTHTOWN ALL-STARS BASKETBALL PROGRAM

Immediate Need for (Stipend) Youth Travel Basketball Coaches in Chicago South Suburbs.

Three-year-old growing AAU boy’s basketball program located in the South Suburbs is in need of experienced coaches to coach teams grade levels 5th through high school. Candidates must have prior coaching experience or have played at the college/professional level. Must be of sound mind and character. Background Check Required. Season runs April until the end of June.

YOUTH BASKETBALL JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: YOUTH AAU BASKETBALL COACH

Position Description:

Stipend basketball coach for AAU Youth Basketball Program for the SouthTown All-Stars Basketball Travel Club.

The coach is responsible for all aspects of directing the team’s practice and tournament play.  Most players will have previous experience playing organized team basketball, but some will be playing in their first AAU organized basketball program. The teams will have 10-12 players, a Head Coach and a knowledgeable “Parent Asst. Coach.” 

Teams will conduct two (2 hour) practices per week and one (1 hour) Skills Development Session (6 sessions) where you will need to assist the trainers with drills.

Activities and Responsibilities:

  1. To teach skills through the use of the games approach and through effectively planned practices at a level appropriate for the type of competition we will face in tournaments.
  2. To supervise the players before, during, and immediately following the practices and games.
  3. To provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all players.
  4. To communicate with the Program Director on all matters of policy and procedures.
  5. To serves as a positive role model to players, parents, officials, and fellow coaches.
  6. To promote the All-Star’s core values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility, and Hardwork to players, parents, and spectators.

 

Qualifications:

-          Must have prior coaching experience or played at the college/professional level.

-          Must be of sound mind and character.

-          Background Check Required

This position is with compensation.

Coaches also have the opportunity to be lead classes, clinics and camps in future programs.
