On this date in 1909, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the 16th Amendment, giving Congress the power to tax incomes. Speaking of taxes (and the fact that Illinois is one of seven states that charges a sales tax on special gas for warmer weather), only two gas stations in Oak Lawn are competing for the title of "Cheapest Gas Price," which stands at $3.85 per gallon of unleaded fuel:
