CHICAGO AUTO SHOW

Where/When: Opens Friday at 10 a.m. and runs daily 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Sunday, Feb. 20, at McCormick Place, 2301 S. Martin Luther King Dr. in Chicago.

Why go: Chance to see newest automobiles, concept cars, auto-related exhibits, competition vehicles, antique and collector cars under one roof.

Pricing: Admission is $11 for adults, $7 for seniors 62 and older, $7 for children 7 to 12, children 6 and younger free when accompanied by a paying adult. Half-price tickets are available at BP gas stations. Coupons good for $4 weekday discount are available at new car dealerships and most banks. Women admitted for $7 on Tuesday, Feb. 15. Visitors who bring 3 cans of food admitted for $7 on Wednesday, Feb. 16, through Friday, Feb. 18.  

"SEX PLEASE, WE'RE SIXTY"

Where/When: Performances at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11-13, Feb. 18-19 with 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Feb. 13, at Palos South Middle School, 13100 S. 82nd Avenue in Palos Park.

Why go: See “Sex Please, We’re Sixty,” an adult comedy performed by the Palos Village Players community theater group.

Pricing: $15 at the door; season tickets are $38, which includes three shows.

WEEKEND QUILTERS

Where/When: Evergreen Park Public Library, 9400 S. Troy Ave. Saturdays 1 p.m.-4  p.m.

Why go: The Evergreen Park Public Library presents a place for quilters to get together on a weekly basis and talk strategy.  Instructer Penny Nichols will share her knowledge. A sewing machine is not required. 

Pricing: Free

Where/when:  , 10301 S Kolmar Ave, in Oak Lawn, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Feb. 12.

Why go: Held annually, St. Nicholas’ Greek cooking demonstration and luncheon has been a huge, well-anticipated success. Admission includes a full luncheon, including appetizer, salad, home made bread, entree, dessert, wine, soda, and coffee after the demonstration of most of the menu items.  "Yiayia's Pantry" is also open for business with our homemade pastries, breads, cookbooks and more available for purchase.  Later, catch a Greek dance performance by the St. Nicholas Dance Troupe. Space is limited, so please make your reservations early. Pricing: $40

 

Where/when: , 10632 S Cicero Ave., 8 p.m. Feb. 11-12.

Why go: The Usual Mistakes perform Friday and Saturday, a four-piece acoustical band performing rock and soul. Come and enjoy 68 wines and nine speciality beers, and a starters menu the includes gluten free cracks and handmade chocolate. Extended hours for Valentine’s Day weekend. Pricing: No cover.

 

Where/when: Oak Lawn Ice Arena, 9320 S Kenton Ave, Oak Lawn, 1-2:30 p.m. Feb. 13.

Why go: Impress your Valentine with tour smooth moves on the ice. A2Z DJ service will provide the music for this annual family event. For information call call 708-857-5173

The Popeye's in Burbank has a hand sanitizer installed behind the counter, but honestly, the employees hardly ever use it, which is why, after a horrible experience at that location last July, I have not patronized ANY Popeye's since!!!
