Eagles and Junior Jordans Play Big Game Saturday

Special Olympics athletes play two exciting basketball games at Brother Rice High School on Saturday Jan. 14 and the whole town is invited.

The Special Olympic teams square off for some thrilling and entertaining basketball, raising money for the special recreation programs. The high school-aged Eagles and younger Junior Jordans will split up their teams and face off against each other.

“Not only are these kids great athletes, they’re great entertainers,” organizer John Zawaski said.

The fun starts at noon Saturday, Jan. 14, at Brother Rice High School at 10001 S. Pulaski Road. The afternoon features two basketball games, plus special appearances by the Brother Rice Marching Band and with the Oak Lawn Pep Squad whipping the crowd into frenzy.

will sell their delicious gyros sandwiches at the game, with all food proceeds going back to the park district’s special recreation programs.

Patch will also be at the game giving out free stuff until we run out of schwag. I hope you like pens.

More than 1,800 attended last year’s game at Brother Rice and raised $12,000 for the park district’s special recreation programs.

Cost for tickets is $5 and every cent goes back into the program. Tickets can be purchased online on the Junior Jordans website or at the door. If you don’t have enough money to buy tickets for the whole family, whatever you can give at the door will be greatly appreciated.
