‘Elvis and Johnny’ Rock St. Louis’ Carnival Sunday Stage

Local Elvis and Johnny Cash tribute artists headline Sunday's stage at the St. Louis de Montfort Parish Carnival.

Parishioners and residents planning to attend St. Louis de Montfort’s Parish Carnival are in for a treat on Sunday night.
Oak Lawn’s Joe King and Joni Kash will be performing their high energy Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash tribute show from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday (June 2).
Elvis met Johnny Cash at Sun Records in Memphis--Elvis’s original record label-- along with rockabilly artist Carl Perkins and a little known pianist named Jerry Lee Lewis on Dec. 4, 1956 in what has been described as the “greatest jam session ever.” The original “Fab Four” laid down 90 minutes of tracks singing and playing whatever songs popped into their heads.
The “King & Kash” tribute show reprises the energy of that long-ago session. Both Presley and Cash remained friends up until Elvis’s death in 1977.
Here’s a clip of Joe King’s soulful performance of “Let It Be Me” from February's 2013 Windy City Elvis Tribute Artist Competition at 115 Bourbon Street. Joe was crowned the “People’s Choice” winner out of  24 featured Elvis tribute artists.
"King and Kash" starring local Elvis and Johnny Cash tribute artists Joe King and Joni Kash from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the St. Louis de Montfort Parish  Carnival located @ Ridgeland and Central Avenues, across the street from Jewel in Oak Lawn.
