Oak Lawn Celebrates the Fourth With Parade and Fireworks -- Legal and Illegal


Oak Lawn residents finally shook off the polar vortex and marched down 95th Street in celebration of America’s 238th birthday on July 4.

Patch noticed more security along the parade line to monitor the candy-diving children and keep kids from running into the path of a parade float.

Dozens of local non-profit organizations, businesses and civic leaders participated in the 2014 parade.

During the evening, residents shot off their arsenals of Indiana mortar shells, sky rockets, fountains and Black Cats. And those professional grade fireworks blasting off near the 5900 block of West 88th Place -- you're a mad man (or mad woman), whoever you are.
