Oak Lawn Fourth of July Survival Guide

Parades, fireworks, concerts and other events happening around Oak Lawn July 4 through July 7.

8th Annual Independence Day Parade

  • 10 a.m. July 4
  • Parade steps off at 51st Avenue and 95th Street, proceeding west down 95th Street to 55th Avenue.
  • Features dozens of mascots, color guards, bands, community organizations, civic groups, scout troops, youth sports teams, churches and MORE. Don’t forget to bring a bag for collecting candy.

 

Oak Lawn Park District Star Spangled Celebration

  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., July 4
  • Centennial Park (94th Street and Nashville Avenue)
  • $5 wristbands for children ages 3 and up; parents free.
  • Features treasure hunt, bingo, obstacle course, games and crafts, giant inflatable slide, kids’ tattoos, pony rides and free play area.
  • Oak Lawn’s Got Talent (winner will perform as opening act at Richards High School Fireworks Show)
  • $2 admission at all park district pools

 

 Fireworks Spectacular by Melrose Pyrotechnics
  • Evening begins at 8:15 p.m. July 4 with concert by Dave Rudolf
  • Fireworks at dusk, July 4.
  • Richards High School, 10601 S. Central Ave. General seating available in the bleachers; VIP seating only on field.
  • Fireworks’ viewing is also available at South Side Baptist School at 5220 W. 105th St. Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy the show from there.
  • Watch a fabulous 20-minute fireworks display set to music.

Oak Lawn Classic Car Show

  • 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 7
  • Village Green on east side of Oak Lawn Library at Dumke Drive and Cook Avenue.
  • Featuring hundreds of classic cars; professionally judged, 100 trophies will be awarded.
  • Music
  • Food and beverages provided by Phil’s Pizza and the Knights of Columbus

Sunday Evening Concert on the Green

  • 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 7
  • Concert on the Village Green at Dumke Drive and Cook, behind the Oak Lawn Library.
  • Bring your blankets, chairs and refreshments for a night of rock and roll oldies with the Meteors.
  • Free!
  • Sponsored by the Village of Oak Lawn and Oak Lawn Park District.
