Patch Helps Find Two Lost Dogs in Two Days

Using our Patch outreach efforts we were able to help reunite Buttercup and Winnie with their respective families.

Patch is always here to help and in the last two days we played our part in reuniting two families with their lost dogs.

On Friday, Oct. 15 Winnie, a six-year-old rottweiler shepherd mix, slipped out of her Mount Greenwood backyard. Her owner Magan Bertetto contacted Patch asking us to help spread the word about the missing pooch.

About 10 minutes after we sent out a breaking news alert and posted Winnie's picture to Facbook, Patch received a call from Ridge Academy which is just down the street from the Bertetto's home.

Teachers from the school had found Winnie and took her into the school where they took care of her throughout the day, said Janice Koll, a faculty member at the school.

Patch passed the word onto the Bertettos and the very relieved family was reunitited with their much-loved pet.

Magan Beretto says dog treats galore are in store for Winnie.

Just the day before Patch was able to help Andy and Clarissa Briseno of Oak Lawn find their lost pomeranian.

Buttercup, who hates rain, was taking care of business in the Brisenos' back yard during Wednesday's rainstorm, when she slipped out of the yard around 5:30 p.m.

"She's never done anything like this before," Clariss Briseno said when she contacted Patch on Thursday night. "Usually she's scared and very cautious about doing things. We figured it was raining and she was hiding."

Buttercup was hiding from the rain all right--on a nice lady's porch about a block away from the Brisenos.

"She was on my front porch. I forget to look for the mail earlier. It was the only reason I went out there," Deanna Carver, the neighbor who found Buttercup said. "She was so sweet and scared. I couldn't leave her out there."

Within 15 minutes of posting Buttercup's photo and deets on the Oak Lawn Patch Facebook page, reader Jenni Simpson recognized Buttercup's photo from a post on the Moms of Oak Lawn Facebook group page.

Deanna's daughter, Joanne Reilly, posted that her mom had found a pomeranian on her porch taking refuge from the rain.

Buttercup was reunited with her ecstatic family and Schnoodle buddy on Friday morning. Clarissa was on her way to get both dogs microchipped.

"Thanks to everyone who helped," Clarissa wrote. "Patch you're amazing. My kids will have a nice surprise tomorrow."
