The big parade takes place Sunday, March 10 on Western Avenue. This is its second year back after a brief hiatus. The Chicago City Council recently passed an ordinance imposing harsher fines on drinking at parades.
The committee has been stressing the family-friendly nature of the rebooted parade and this year will add a one mile race down Western before the parade steps off.
This year's parade will honor local first responders as grand marshals. The family of fallen Fire Capt. Herbie Johnson attended the pre-parade party.
