Patch's top picks for weekend fun in Oak Lawn, Sept. 16 to Sept. 18.

Are you still recovering from Fall On the Green after spending last weekend in the beer tent? There is still plenty of fun left in the last weekend in summer, but you may want to wear an extra sweatshirt because it’s going to feel like fall. Here are Patch’s top weekend picks of events, concerts and benefits happening exclusively in Oak Lawn.

OLCHS Second Annual Fall Carnival

offers thrill seekers of all ages rides, games and carny food at its second annual fall carnival this weekend. Rides this year feature classic children and family rides, but there are plenty of other rides to attract daredevils like the Fire Ball, Zipper, Predator and 1001 Nachts. (We just hope there’s a Tilt-A-Whirl.) Proceeds benefit the school’s extracurricular and athletic programs.

  • Where: 9400 Southwest Highway
  • When: Friday, Sept. 16, 5 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 17, 1 to 11 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 18, 1 to 8 p.m.
  • Cost: Mega-passes, $50 (good for all days and rides); $20 ride special (good for all rides) from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

An Evening of Music With Our Friends

invites the community to join Bob Keunster (who we think does the best job in the village of decorating a funeral home for Christmas) for his 13th annual concert, “A Gift To the Community With Gratitude and Commitment.” Please a non-perishable food item to be donated to the local food pantries. Patron Appreciation Day

honors its patrons (that’s you) with an afternoon of exhibits, games, family activities, refreshments and local history exhibits. and the return of Sunday hours! Live music will be performed by the Holy Cross/IHM Marimba Ensemble, while Bad Kitty greets you in the lobby

  • When: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.

Sully Shuffle 5K Run/3K Walk 

Walk or run in honor of beloved former coach and local hero Skip “Sully” Sullivan. The Sully Shuffle is now a certified race allowing runners to earn points to quality for major races. In its first two years the Sully Shuffle raised over $40,000 for the American Parkinson Disease Association and 500 runners participated.

  • When: 7:30 a.m. registration; mini-shuffle for kids ages 2-10, 8:30 a.m.; adult 5K run/3K walk starts at 9 a.m.; after-party 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18.
  • Cost: $35 adults (5K run); $30 adults (3K walk); $15 children ages 2-10 (mini-shuffle); and $30 post-party at the ; $50 walk/post party; $55 run/post party.

Classic and Muscle Car Show

Roll that pack of cigarettes up in your white T-shirt sleeve and get out the poodle skirt for the Good Fellas Car Club third annual Muscle and Classic Car Show. All proceeds will benefit

  • When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.
  • Cost: $15 cars; $10 bikes; spectators FREE.
