If the Cubs and Sox yard gnomes on sale at Walgreen’s for $24.95 got into a fight, who would win?
Mary Ward – “I bought the Bears one, it was no help at all. Worked about as much as Cutler last season.”

Kevin Ford – “Actually, you could put the Sox gnome in right or left field and see. Just as much range as what they have now.”
Beverly Prince Moss – “Sox gnome [would win] but the Cubs gnome would find a way of making his loss look trendy and stylish.”

There were no Oak Lawn winners in last week’s MegaMillions record-setting jackpot of $640 million, but our readers had a lot of great ideas of how they would spend the money if they won.
Restore Our Constitution – “I’d give a fundraiser for Nancy Pelosi with thousands of big shot politicians invited. Then TOAST Nancy and say “JUST KIDDING” then leave.
Mikey Curtiss - “BUILD A SCHOOL FOR AUTISM! RIGHT HERE IN OAK LAWN!”
Jim Link - “I would buy Patch!”
'It’s Not Easy Being Green'
A community meeting was held which would add 40,000 square feet and possible renovation of the village green.
OakLawnGuy - “The old Village Hall resided where the Green is now. I don't quite remember, did the residents have any voice in the construction of the park where it is and the relocation of the Hall? Or was it shoved down their throats?”
Grunty - “I don't know about the rest of oak lawn, but an outdoor ice skating rink would be pretty awesome but the people directly around the village green should be sought out and give some input on what they think.”
Dave W – “Finish the alleys, fill the potholes, fix the streets in general, stop creating TIFs...the park is a great idea...when everything else is done first. When we have excess amounts of money, somehow...when our taxes aren't going up. When the high school is brought up to modern standards...look, a pattern!”
Raineday: “I am for this upgrade to the village green. The only way to make Oak Lawn a viable inner ring suburb is to make it attractive to young people who wish to raise their families in our community. Oak Lawn needs attractive amenities, which will help it to remain a community people choose to live in not just get stuck living in. Our community needs to look to the future. Or, the very best days will be only memories."
