'The Ellen Show' Coming to Southland? Mysterious Message Has Fans A Twitter

A tweet from the show's official account tells viewers to stop by Best Buy in Orland Park at 9 p.m. Thanksgiving. But why is still a mystery?

The message appeared on Twitter at around 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, sent from @TheEllenShow, the official account for Ellen DeGeneres' talk show:

If you're around Tinley Park, Orland Park or Oak Lawn in IL, you wanna follow my tweets for a really cool#BlackFriday event!

Fifteen minutes later, the post had been retweeted by hundreds of fans of DeGeneres and her show (as well as people just interested in local celebrity sightings). Some simply repeated the message, others expressed their excitement that The Ellen Show had mentioned their hometown. A few people, however, asked the big question:

What does it mean?

Is The Ellen Show really coming to Tinley Park, Orland Park or Oak Lawn? If so, where will it be broadcasting from? Will Ellen DeGeneres be in town? Will it just be a camera crew?

Answers to those questions couldn't be found online, and the show's website didn't reveal anything, either. After Wednesday's Thanksgiving episode featuring Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, the show is in repeats until Monday, Nov. 26, and there is no mention of Black Friday in that show's synopsis.

At this point, we're all at the mercy of The Ellen DeGeneres Show's Twitter account, which is probably all part of the plan.

UPDATED (6:58 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21): Another tantalizing tweet from the show's official account puts a time and a place for the big event. The what is not forthcoming:

If you’re near Orland Park, IL, head down to Best Buy tomorrow night at 9pm for a big surprise!

Anyone have any ideas?

UPDATED (5:24 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21): More tweets from The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday. The first one came at around 12:30 p.m.

Tomorrow is a day to be thankful, and if you're in the SW Chicago suburbs, you might be REALLY thankful. Get ready!

And the second one was around 4:30 p.m.:

It's a big travel day for us. I packed snacks and a good book. I knew we shoulda put the dining room closer to the den.

Make of those tweets what you will. Messages to DeGeneres' publicist were not returned.

Patch will continue to update this story.
