Flying colors: U.S. Navy JROTC team takes title at Zion-Benton
The U.S. Navy JROTC program from Richards High School recently took top honors at the drill competition hosted by Zion-Benton High School.

The Bulldogs enjoyed perhaps their best day in competition in the program’s five-year history. Bulldog Company won first place in both the Personnel Inspection and Unarmed Drill contests. They also won second place in the Armed Drill category.

Individually, Josh Kamba took fifth place overall on the academic test and Sidney Torres took sixth place in the unarmed knock-out -- all cadets stand in formation as U.S. Navy officers grade them, eliminating one at a time until a single student remains.
The JROTC curriculum features military history, tradition and drill, color guard service, and leadership development.
