Watch the New Cadet Drill Team from Richards compete

In less than six years, Commander (ret.) Doug Groters and Chief Petty Officer (ret.) Dennis Reynolds have developed one of the finest JROTC programs in the nation at Richards High School.  

Their willingness to give generously of their time before and after school and on weekends has helped create a culture of excellence. The extracurricular work includes rehearsal for drill competitions.

A few weeks ago, we shared news of Bulldog Company's dominant performance at the Zion-Benton drill competition. And now you can see for yourself how they brought home so much hardware.

The JROTC curriculum features military history, tradition and drill, color guard service, and leadership development.  Due to its schedule of activities and opportunities in military drill, JROTC satisfies the district’s physical education requirement.

JROTC students do not have any obligation to service in the military after graduating from high school.  Some choose to volunteer, others earn ROTC scholarships or military academy appointments, but must simply enjoy the experience and head to college after graduating from Richards.
