The Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce invite vendors to participate in the sixth annual Spring into Summer event featuring the Pet Parade, Vendor Fair and New Car Show on June 15 through June 17.

Vendors are invited to sell their wares at the 'Shop Oak Lawn' Sale taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Metra Station and Museum Drive. Proceeds from the event will be going to the Children's Museum "We the People" exhibit and applying the finishing touches to the 9-11 First Responders Monument. Marquette Bank Holds Food Drive

has launched its fifth annual Neighborhood Food Drive and is collecting donations at all 24 bank locations until June 23.

Food and monetary donations will be distributed to local food pantries and neighborhood food banks through the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

“Last year, Marquette Bank donated over 62,500 meals to the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Northern Illinois Food Bank,” Executive Vice President Betty Kosky-Harn said. “With the help of our employees, customers and neighbors, we look forward to making this year’s food drive a huge success.”

Donations of non-perishable food items can be placed in food barrels at any of the bank’s 24 locations, including 8855 S. Ridgeland Ave. and 10419 S. Cicero Ave. in Oak Lawn and 9858 S. Western Ave. and 9335 S. Kedzie Ave. in Evergreen Park. 

Employees also will be spending several days volunteering at the Greater Chicago Food Depository sorting and packing donated food items.

CUB to Review Utility Bills at Oak Lawn Library

The Citizens Utility Board will hold a Cut Your Costs seminar on slashing home energy bills at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at the , 9427 S. Raymond Ave.

At the seminar, residents will learn about programs, rebates and incentives available to help cut energy spending and learn about energy-saving actions that could save them hundreds of dollars a year.

CUB will also explain the state’s newly competitive electricity market, helping consumers navigate the dozens of power suppliers currently marketing plans in Illinois.

Baumann’s Bakery Open for Business

Workmen spent most of Monday repairing the damage caused last Friday when a car accidentally crashed through the front window at Baumann’s Bakery at 12248 S. Harlem Ave. in nearby Palos Heights.

“We’re trying to get it ready for (Tuesday),” owner Cathy Baumann said Monday morning.

They succeeded and the popular bakery, which was closed to customers over the weekend, reopened its doors Tuesday.

Baumann’s has been a fixture on Harlem Avenue in Palos Heights for the past 28 years.

The Limited Opens at Chicago Ridge Mall
